Privacy Policy
Herein, EasternEsox.ca is reffered to with "we", "us", "our"; a "customer" is any individual who has relations with Eastern Esox through this website, as an online customer having created an account with us, a supplier of merchandise, or any other entity we maintain digital record of.
We respect the privacy and security of all individuals with whom we interact. We understand that personal information under our control has been given to us in trust by our customers. We do our best to ensure these data remain secure, safe, accurate, and confidential in order to ensure the best possible experience for our customers.
1. Information We Collect
We gather only enough information from registered users as necessary to provide a fast and convenient experience when shopping and ordering merchandise through EasternEsox.ca. We do not analyze the buying trends of customers or record their patterns when they are shopping on EasternEsox.ca to increase sales. Our users will experience the same interface each time they visit the website without having products shown to them that they are statistically likely to buy. In short, the information that we gather from our registered users pertains to only (1) who they are, (2) where they would like to have merchandise shipped to, and (3) how they would like to pay for their merchandise. This information is not mandatory. Customers may order merchandise over the phone or via mail.
2. Use of Information
We use the information outlined in Section 1 to make placing and receiving orders as quick and easy as possible. In addition to this, we use email adresses to (1) ensure that a customer creating an account is in fact a real person with a valid email, and (2) send promotional emails to notify our customers of discounts, sales, or other promotional events. Our customers may choose to not receive these emails by indicating so in their profile options.
Again, we do not analyze the buying patterns of our customers to increase sales. We beleive that our customers should not be pursuaded or manipulated in any way to purchase merchandise from us.
3. Security
We do everything we can within reason to ensure that your personal information remains internally secure. We gather personal information from our customers only through a secure socket layer ("https://" will appear preceeding any URL through which we accept your personal information, and we encourage our users to watch for this, in addition to a "lock icon" appearing on your browser window).
With growing trends of online credit card information stealing/fraud, we also internally encrypt your credit card information with an encryption algorithm that was created specifically for EasternEsox.ca. In lamens terms, this means that even if someone was able to hack into our system (which we feel is extremely unlikely), your credit card information would be encrypted, and ultimately useless. When we bill a credit card, we hold the decryption key (offline for security reasons), and can therefore recover the actual credit card information, which is used to bill our customers for an order, then destroyed. The actual credit card data is never recorded in its pure form.
4. Control of Information
Personal information gathered by EaternEsox.ca is not shared, sold, or in any way allowed to leave our internal records, aside from being available to view or edit by the person who submitted it and to us to process orders. If, at any time, a customer does not feel comfortable with their personal information being held by us, they can send an email to info@EasternEsox requesting us to purge their records from our system.
